North America is composed by Canada (the second largest country in area in the world), U.S.A., Mexico, Greenland (Danish territory), Saint Pierre and Miquelon islands (a small French overseas department ) and Bermuda (British dependency). The total population of the continent is about 460 million inhabitants.
Economically, North America is one of the wealthiest regions of the world. It is also a continent with many natural wonders such as Niagara Falls, the Grand Canyon and Rocky Mountains. The highest elevation is Mount McKinley with 6,194 meters, in Alaska.

Greenland (above) - This spectacular north looking view of south Greenland shows numerous indentations along the coastline, many of which contain small settlements. These indentations are fiords carved by glaciers of the last ice age. Even today, ice in the center (NASA). Greenland is the biggest island of the world, with an area of 2,175,600 square km. Banff National Park - CanadaFirst national park of Canada, the Banff National Park is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, since 1985. Situated in the Canadian Rocky Mountain, province of Alberta. The Banff National Park has a total area of almost 7,000 square km, breathtaking scenarios, ski station and many other attractions. Cabo San Lucas - MexicoIt's a resort town located in Baja California Sur, with 25,000 inhabitants. From a small fishing village, by the 1930s, Cabo San Lucas has become an important option for tourism in Mexico. It has beautiful beaches, impressive rocky formations and is a special place for the practice of aquatic sports. Lost Sight of New YorkThe Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, in Manhattan, was one of the most photographed views of the United States. Inaugurated in 1973, with 110 floors and 412 meters high, it was the highest construction of that time. On 11th September 2001, two commercial flights, hijacked by terrorists, hit the Twin Towers. The two tower had suffered a complete structural collapse in 104 minutes, after the first attack. In the September 11 attacks, about 2,800 people died and 1796 were not found. |
